Dr. Susan Steinkamp

Dr. Steinkamp is from Falls Church, Virginia, where she enjoyed all the childhood explorations into animal care… the Easter ducks and chickens; the turtles, newts and salamanders; the hamsters and parakeets; the kitties and dogs and horses. She received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Purdue University, then graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1977. She has done additional course work in dentistry and oral surgery and has been a member of the American Veterinary Dental Society since 2009.

She was adopted by Oreo, a meandering kitty, several years ago. Oreo took the liberty to bring home Stache, so named because he only has half a moustache. And more recently, Mikey and Max were inherited into the feline part of the family. On the canine side, there are two American Cocker Spaniels, Higgins and Millie, and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, named Fergie.

Dr. Steinkamp taught Scuba diving for 12 years. She still enjoys swimming, as well as gardening, target shooting, nature photography, and travel.
